Congress Awards

A large number of congress awards will be available, including for delegates from Low to Middle Income Countries, Early Career Researchers, AEA members, IEA Western Pacific Region members and others. All awards will provide a waiver of the registration fee and of the fee of attending one (1) half-day short course. Successful applicants will be chosen on merit, based on:

  • review of an abstract for which they are a contributing author (and supported by a written statement detailing the important role the applicant played in the work reported in the abstract if the applicant is not the first/presenting author), or
  • Awards will be considered for those not submitting abstracts but who would benefit from attending In this case you should provide a written application about why you should receive the award. The application should use the Abstract Template (up to 250 words) to outline their personal circumstances, and explain how obtaining a bursary to participate in the congress will assist their professional development

Successful applicants will be chosen on merit, based on

  • EITHER review of an abstract for which they are a contributing author
    • All applicants should complete the below form to apply for an award.
    • If the applicant is not the first/presenting author, the application should be supported by a statement in writing made to the Deputy Chair of the Scientific Committee detailing the important role the applicant played in the work reported in the abstract;
  • OR appraisal of their written application for a congress award
    • The application should outline the applicant’s personal circumstances (eg an abstract was not submitted because it was necessary to set aside research activity during the
      COVID-19 outbreak in order to focus on clinical duties), and explain how attendance at the congress will assist their professional development;
    • The application is to be submitted via the Abstract Template (maximum 250 words) and completion of the below form.

All awards will provide a waiver of the registration fee and of the fee of attending one (1) halfday short course. This applies to congress awards, AEA awards and JEA-IEA Western Pacific Region awards.

Applicants for certain congress awards will be required to confirm that they are a current member of IEA or their national / regional association.
Successful applicants will be required to provide additional information to establish proof of eligibility. It should be provided to the Deputy Chair of the Scientific Committee (the advice to successful applicants will include details of how to provide this information to the Deputy Chair of the Scientific Committee).
